WEDDING CAKE ICING : FONDANT and BUTTERCREAM

When a bride asks me which is better, fondant or buttercream cake, I usually respond to them with a list of pros and cons of both.  And I have a feeling that after reading this list, you will be able to decide for yourself which of the two is truly the perfect icing for your wedding cake!

Smooth finish
Costs more than butter cream

Infinite possibilities of decoration
Play dough like texture

Can be sculpted in to unlimited shapes and travels well
Extremely sweet

BUTTERCREAM
Budget friendly
Doesn’t hold up well in sun or heat (humidity).

Creamy and Delectable
Finishing is not as smooth as fondant

Traditional
Colors can be slightly different than expected
